Ray Bradbury is one of those authors I can honestly say shaped me from an early age. I actually didn't have to read him in high school (like in so many blogs and articles I've seen today) I read his books (along with Clarke and Asimov, though Bradbury was my favorite) very willingly. I read one of them this year for banned book month.
His stories had this pearl of hope within them, regardless of the dismal surroundings in some of them. Hope, the only thing in Pandora's Box, the one thing forgotten or perhaps, the one thing saved and treasured. I think the best stories have some hope in them, otherwise, what would be the point.
While he'll be missed, he had a long, and hopefully wonderful life and in reality, he'll never be further away than the pages of his book.
