#4 - deadlines

I admit it, I write better with them than without. I'm not the best with self discipline so having someone giving me a deadline is very helpful. I rarely miss them and if I do, well then it's my problem. I don't get my shot at that open call. Sometimes I get mad at myself for that, when it was avoidable. I did that last month. Oh well.

I don't miss them when the story has already been contracted. That would be just unprofessional.

Sometimes, I cut it too close, like this latest deadline. I only gave my beta less than two days to do her work. Sigh. I guess there is breathing room now because I've decided not to send the Scarred Soldier in to Storm Moon for that anthology. I did ask my beta readers and they all agreed that it didn't seem to fit the open call. That's a deadline I can let slip past.

I still have at least one writing obligation from last year for winters_queen to write. See what I mean about deadlines? Without them, I slip up. Sorry about that.
