what not to do
Jan. 5th, 2012 11:34 pmOne of the resolutions I forgot to list here was that I'd like to talk more about the craft, maybe interview a few people and share other things I run across. I have so many authors, editors and publishers on Twitter now, it seems senseless not to share the links I see.
Try this one out, what not to do as an author. don’t do these things. It's never even occurred to me to pitch on twitter. I guess it's my other jobs that put me in that mind set. I'm used to a very formal way of doing things. Out of all the various self help for author books I've ever read most lacked a component on how to pitch. Granted that changes subtly with the years. Thankfully magazines like Writers Digest filled the void and I learned the right way to do it. Or at least I hope so. At any rate, I'm fairly sure I haven't been rude or unprofessional (though there were a few temptations along the way when it was obvious the editor was trashing a story that wasn't MINE in the rejection letter to me).
