nothing like editing
Jul. 9th, 2011 11:49 pmto make you feel like a total idiot and occasionally an ungrateful wench. I can not believe two absolutely stupid mistakes I made in Ghost of Jupiter. Thank god the editor caught them or I would have been embarrassed for life. One was a simple science error that I don't even know how I did it (nor did any of my betas catch it).
I apparently don't know where commas go and today I saw a news article where they changed the freaking rules about commas. ARGH
But the ungrateful part comes in with the whole idea that I got some of the beta back too late (MY fault) and didn't get to use as much of it as I'd wanted to and now, I'm afraid to tweak too much. The thing is bought, paid for and edited by the publisher. Making any really big change would be unfair. They'll probably notice that. It wasn't that I didn't want your opinions but next time I need to finish a story with more than a week to go to avoid this. It makes me uncomfortable.
At least the edits are done and I can put the story back in the email tomorrow.
