I got a Review for Crisis in Faith and she hit the nail on the head. The truth is this IS from a longer work but that work isn't finished, let alone sold yet. I'm glad she liked it. I'm glad she wanted to see more. I'm disappointed in myself that I have yet to finish this story. I truly am. This is a very valid and nicely done criticism (see people we can be critical without being cruel, I forget that sometimes)

I was thinking that this year's nano, which is only 6 months away (WTH?), might be an erotic novel. They can be a bit shorter than the others I write. For that matter, if I add another 10K on it, I can pretty much sell it. Maybe I should use this world for my nano.

I was thinking that or maybe Temple and the boys. Hmmmm

I think that's a very valid and thought out criticism of your story.

And also a very good idea for your Nano.

I agree. It is, that's why I thought it should be shared.

It's something that I've wanted to write for SO long, like 17 years or more. I just needed to find a place other than New Orleans and Vegas made a good choice. I know that it is. I just need to figure out what to do to make it a novel not a novella

That's the value of an objective, unbiased perspective. Really, it's easier to take criticism from strangers than from people you know. There's no competition and no emotional stake when some total outsider comments on your writing. I've never understood how married couples/partners could critique each others' work and still stay married (and sane).

this is true. However, the other side of this coin is that if you don't know the person you feel perfectly content to gut them out. I see that a lot.

This, on the other hand, is very fair.
