finally accomplishing things
Feb. 8th, 2011 11:08 pmI do have a short story done for the heaven or hell open call provided i didn't misread the deadline again. I'm not sure it'll fit but that won't stop me from taking a chance.
I was giving more thought to the novel Riding with Strangers and it occurred to me a few things I MUST do. I really need to get the villain more face time. We only see him once or twice so it's pretty obvious it's him. he might need to throw suspicion on a frat brother this time when it becomes obvious Hikaru is innocent.
We need to see Josh and Mary, his girlfriend who has what's known in the IDC-10 as a cluster B type borderline personality. They have very clear hallmarks, having few friends in school, a sense of being the victim, overly sensitive to the way others treat them, reacting strongly to perceived criticism or hurtfulness. Inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger, Transient, stress-related paranoid thoughts, low self-esteem.
It makes for an interesting interpersonal dynamics and of course fuels Josh's own bizarre set of issues as he works his way up to killing her and claiming Lily as his own.
Somehow it never occurred to me that this is where i need to expand a bit because it had to be kept to a minimium when this was a novella but now this is definitely where i need to put my effort. that feels good, working out a long standing block.
