It's been a decent writing week with yet another death among my friends/family (that's three for those keeping score). I did however manage to finish and send in my Halloween flash fic for Bugs and Hisses. I hope that it's good to go. I barely got it in in time because of the above mentioned sadness and the fact that this week was mid-terms and I had a lot of grading to do.

I also finished my still untitled Halloween story for [livejournal.com profile] spook_me. I'll be posting that in the next two weeks. I have to work through the edits [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog & [livejournal.com profile] kiramaru7 gave me. This story isn't much more scary than the silly one I wrote for Bugs and Hisses but it means a lot to me. It was originally begun months ago as a tribute to Leonard Nimoy who passed away scant weeks after my grandmother (both from the same underlying cause) and I just couldn't find the right direction for the story. I finally did and overall I'm pretty happy with it.

I even made a little more progress on Blood Red Roulette so there's that.

Also I've started working on the ridiculous piddly stuff that distracts me during nanowrimo every year. So I've worked up my play lists. I've done the character sheets (or in this case redone) and I'll share those soon. I've done the cover. I have a vague outline. Not much since I'm a pantser and work better that way. I'm pretty excited in one respect because Kaleo and Aneurin's story has been bothering me for at least two years now if not longer. And slightly disappointed in myself because this year was supposed to be a non-erotica year and I just couldn't get that to gel nor could I get the research done for the sequel to Soldiers of the Sun which should be the real story I'm working on.

I took part in a Not at GRL party on facebook which has been fun. Because writing does not come under what is expected of me at the university not being in the humanities department, I can't just take off. If it was just class it would be okay but unfortunately it would fall over my lab and the only other people in the science dept who could take my lab already have their own at that time. Sigh. One of these days someone will put a damn con in the summer.

As long as you're happy working on your NaNo, that's the important thing, right? Research does take time.

I will definitely be happy working with Aneurin and Kaleo IF I can get the little bastard to tell me book one and not book two like he's trying to do

Good luck with Nano & getting all your writing goals met for the year! I totally understand the NOT being able to take off from work when you want to. It's pretty much the same where I work om that they expect you to go away in the summer when you're not working.

I really liked the the tribute to Leonard Nimoy in your fic. I'm a fan too & I wish I had the opportunity to go to a con where he was & meet him. *sighs*

of course back in the 80s and early 90s they didn't charge you extra to see the stars like they do now
