100 Things #66 Unexpectedly hard things about writing

Never in a million years would I have thought it would be THIS difficult to do both the pre-production stuff (that they'll use for blurbs/promotions etc) and to tell the artist what I want for a cover. I didn't have to do the one for the novella but I had to do a cover spec for that.

I think it might have been less detailed or I was so traumatized that time too that I totally forgot how it went. I know my characters inside and out as well I should. They came out of my head. Yet summing up what they look like, what their personalities are like etc was like yanking teeth. Having to do a few more short synopsises...I would rather dangle by my thumbs.

So what do they look like....I USUALLY do character sheets to keep track of this but for Kept Tears I didn't. It started as a short story that ballooned into a novel. Maybe I didn't think I needed them. I don't think I ever put into words what color eyes Aaron had.

Worse, not ONCE in the novel do I mention which arm he's lost....WTF?!? Not until I did a search on the word 'dominant' that I found nearly at the end that it was his non-dominant arm so going with the odds, he lost his left arm (I better fix that in edits).

What is your dream cover? Why it's.....OMFG, why brain why? Surely you can answer this! No, I can't -brain.

Let the whimpering commence.

I finally pulled on my big girl panties and got it done but it still feels lame as hell, but it's out there. Here's hoping the artist can make sense out of my incoherency.
