What's Up Wednesdays

WHAT I'M READING I just finished reading Crazy Love You by Lisa Unger, a Goodreads win. It’s a full-on suspense novel which is a bit out of my usual reading materials. I liked it but it felt long in the middle and there is a rape scene so that happened. And In Hot Water by J.J. Cook, another Goodreads win. Strong female lead, fun ghost, it was an entertaining read.


WHAT I'M WRITING (+ ONE WRITING GOAL) *
I technically didn’t meet my goal which was to work on chapter 4 of Blood Red Roulette. My first reader sent back chapter 3 and felt it was lacking so I should have been working on that. I didn’t do that either. I did spent time, however, looking at a short story for an anthology. I’ve failed before the place it and now, after not looking at it for a year, I think I see the problem with A Wolf in the Fold. I don’t know if I can fix it by the deadline though.

My goal is to work on chapter 3 of Blood Red Roulette and to work on A Wolf in the Fold. If I miss the deadline, there will be other anthologies.

I did finish all the preliminary stuff for my upcoming novel and got it sent back to my publisher.

I also did most of the prompts from the 12 day writing challenge


WHAT WORKS FOR ME The idea that my sales would be up if there were more books out there. I keep hearing that batted around the author’s list. New releases help drive sales of older books. It makes a certain amount of sense. I can’t say my own experience reflects that. I had three releases last year (novel, novella, short story) and there was no bump. I guess I’ll see this summer if the novel this year helps to sell last year’s novel.

WHAT ELSE IS NEW
Not much. It’s been a frustrating awful week really. Nothing much happened that would interest anyone.
